Stepn Game Goes Social with New App and Token on Solana Blockchain

Stepn, a popular move-to-earn game built on the Solana blockchain, is expanding its reach by venturing into the realm of social networking with the launch of a new application and a new token. The game’s development studio, FSL, revealed on May 23 the introduction of Stepn Go, a social lifestyle app that incentivizes users for their daily physical activity and social interactions.

With Stepn Go, users now have the ability to share their digital sneakers with friends and family who are new to the app, as well as split the earnings generated. The app also offers various social features such as adding friends, messaging, creating avatars, and additional gameplay options, all of which contribute to earning rewards in the form of GMT tokens.

To enhance the user experience, the new Stepn Go game introduces a new token called the Go Game Token (GGT). Similar to Stepn’s existing utility token, the Green Satoshi Token (GST), GGT can be earned by engaging in activities like walking, jogging, and running with digital sneakers. Additionally, FSL has also released the StepN Go white paper outlining the details of the new token and app features.

The original Stepn app, launched in 2021, quickly became one of the leading move-to-earn games globally and a pioneer in gamified Web3 fitness applications. The game operates on a dual token system, with GST serving as the utility token and the Green Metaverse Token (GMT) acting as Stepn’s governance token.

FSL co-founder Yawn Rong expressed excitement about the new social features introduced in Stepn Go, stating that they are a response to community requests for enhanced social interactions within the app. Rong also hinted at future updates, including player-versus-player elements, that will further drive mainstream adoption of Stepn Go.

Despite a decline in the GameFi industry in recent years, there has been a resurgence fueled by a surge in cryptocurrency prices. The number of daily active wallets in GameFi has doubled over the past year, indicating a renewed interest in decentralized gaming and finance.

StepN has been actively engaging with the community, recently partnering with Adidas for a limited drop of Genesis Edition nonfungible tokens (NFTs) on Solana. Additionally, the platform announced an airdrop of 100 million FSL points, valued at approximately $30 million, to reward loyal players.

As the crypto market continues to evolve, Stepn’s expansion into social networking and the introduction of the GGT token demonstrate the platform’s commitment to innovation and user engagement in the rapidly growing blockchain gaming space.
