Revolut to List Solana’s Biggest Meme Coin BONK and Launch $1.2M Learn Campaign

Revolut, a European fintech company, has announced its plans to list BONK, Solana’s biggest meme coin, on its platform. In addition to the listing, Revolut will also launch a “learn” campaign to distribute up to 93 billion BONK tokens to its users. This move aims to incentivize users to learn more about the cryptocurrency.

The decision to list BONK and run the campaign was revealed by a person familiar with the matter. However, the “learn” campaign plan still requires approval from BONK’s governing council, which oversees the project’s treasury of BONK tokens worth over $100 million. At the time of writing, the approval vote had almost reached quorum, with six out of the council’s 12 members voting in favor and none against. It is expected that the proposal will pass.

Revolut, when approached for comment, declined to provide any further information on the matter.

The listing of BONK on Revolut will further solidify its position in the mainstream crypto trading venues. The meme coin has experienced a significant surge in price since November 2023, with a staggering 19,000% increase in value, according to CoinMarketCap. During this period, BONK was listed on major exchanges such as Coinbase and Binance.

BONK was initially launched by Solana blockchain enthusiasts as a response to FTX’s implosion in November 2022. It was intended to bring some positivity to the ecosystem. Since then, it has emerged as Solana’s largest meme coin, serving as an incentive mechanism for various applications built on the Solana blockchain.

Revolut’s plan to distribute BONK tokens to its users as a reward for learning about the cryptocurrency through its app is part of the proposed “learn” campaign. The campaign aims to increase BONK’s user base by 500,000, as stated in the proposal. To fund this campaign, 93 billion BONK tokens, equivalent to $1.2 million, will be automatically earmarked.

According to a contributor to BONK, the token’s proponents have many plans in the pipeline to further promote the adoption of the meme coin in the coming months.

Overall, Revolut’s decision to list BONK and launch a “learn” campaign demonstrates the growing interest in meme coins and the willingness of fintech companies to engage with the crypto community. As BONK continues to gain traction in mainstream trading venues, it will be interesting to see how its value and adoption evolve in the future.
