Elixir, a decentralized consensus network for crypto exchanges, has recently announced a groundbreaking partnership with tokenization platform Securitize to unlock decentralized finance (DeFi) for Hamilton Lane’s private credit fund, SCOPE Fund. This collaboration marks a significant step towards bridging traditional finance with the world of DeFi.
The SCOPE Fund, which was launched on the Solana blockchain in July 2024, will now have institutional access to DeFi through Elixir’s platform, with the decentralized stablecoin deUSD serving as the native path for investors. This move is set to revolutionize the way institutional asset holders interact with DeFi, allowing them to maintain isolated exposure while accessing the benefits of decentralized finance.
In a statement released on Jan. 8, Elixir highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “Starting Monday, in partnership with Securitize, Elixir will enable the fund’s institutional asset holders to keep isolated exposure and natively access DeFi via deUSD.” This development opens up new opportunities for investors to leverage their assets in the DeFi space without altering their original risk exposure.
Securitize, in November, integrated deUSD into its real-world asset institutional program, launching sToken vaults to enhance the functionality, liquidity, and composability of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). This program allows holders of Securitize-issued RWAs to utilize deUSD for liquidity in DeFi, enabling them to continue earning yield from their underlying investments.
Elixir’s token plays a crucial role in powering this decentralized finance experience, offering users the ability to access DeFi opportunities without being tied to their original risk exposure. “deUSD is the only currency enabling institutional RWA asset holders to use DeFi, without changing their original exposure. Elixir brings default native composability for assets from BlackRock, Hamilton Lane, and others,” Elixir stated.
The success of this partnership underscores the growing importance of DeFi in the traditional finance sector and highlights the potential for further collaboration between blockchain platforms and traditional financial institutions. With Elixir and Securitize leading the way, the future of decentralized finance looks promising for institutional investors seeking to tap into the benefits of blockchain technology.
